Honestly, I don't even know if the Brilliant Mind of Stevens realizes what Ainge is capable of...all I know is whoever the Bulldogs don't choose, he'll probably scoop them up with a boarding pass to the Garden. Jul 5, 2013; Waltham, MA, USA; Mandatory Credit: Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports.

Welcome to October, folks. The college basketball season is less than a month away as Butler’s first exhibition game will take place October 29 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Full schedule here.

That won’t be your first chance to see Butler live though, as Dirkus Callahan reported earlier Monday that Fox Sports 1 will be broadcasting footage from around the Big East of live scrimmages in the conference. This will be a very good chance to become familiar with the rest of the program the Bulldogs will be competing against for the first time and of course to see the Bulldogs for the first time on the network most of their games will be featured on this season.

Today was also a big day for Brad Stevens in his first ever media day as head coach of the Boston Celtics. Much ado has been made of the coach’s looming relationship with star player Rajon Rondo, so naturally there were a lot of questions from the buzzing Boston media on that topic today. Per this column from Kevin O’Connor of SB Nation’s Celtics Blog, Rondo even went as far as to call his new head coach his “best friend.”

CBSSports.com released its college basketball writers’ selections for power rankings of each conference heading into this basketball season. Five of the predictions had Butler either 8th or 9th in the conference, Jerry Palm slated the Bulldogs at fifth.

There was also a new video released today by Butler Athletics from Butler’s first practice featuring a couple of Butler players and head coach Brandon Miller. You can watch the embedded video at the bottom of this piece.
