Hang on, folks, the season is just around the corner. Saturday morning at 8 a.m. marked the official beginning of the season as Butler tipped of its first practice of the 2013-14 campaign.

With a new rule in college basketball this season, teams are allowed to begin practice three weeks earlier than in the past, and that definitely cannot hurt a young Butler team this season. Whether that means more time in the gym, or not having to cram a bunch of practices in before the season starts, there is definitely more time for teams around the NCAA this season to work with coaches and prepare for the slate of games that lies ahead.
My journey here at Butler with our first official practice tomorrow. Excited to see what we do as a team and anxious to prove doubters wrong

41 days are between today and the first game Butler players will officially put on the jersey and play in front of a crowd at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Today is just the beginning as the foundation begins to be created for this season. One that has the potential and will hopefully be a memorable one as the Butler program begins play in the Big East.
Happy first day of college hoops practice. Odd early start but then again Christmas coming early isn’t a bad thing.
