It was a sad day when beloved play-by-play announcer, Brandon Gaudin, decided to join the radio team at Georgia Tech and relieve his duties as the Bulldogs’ caller. Today, however, Butler has announced its new man leading the radio broadcasts.
A 2012 Butler graduate, Mark Minner has spent the last three seasons working on the team as a half-time, post-game and studio host. Now, he will be taking the reigns as the play-by-play announcer, leading the call for Butler Basketball.

“Mark has been a key piece of our Athletic Department since he enrolled at Butler five years ago,” said Associate Athletic Director Mike Freeman in the official release from Butler today. “He has great talent as a broadcaster and is an incredibly driven person. Teaming Mark with color analyst Nick Gardner will keep our broadcasts at a passionate and professional level that our fans are used to.”
According to the release, he also spent his four years as an undergraduate calling the women’s basketball team on Butler’s webcasts and spent time on Turner Sports calling NCAA Championships in baseball and men’s golf.
No one is doubting his credentials as again Butler has promoted from within as pieces of the men’s basketball program move onto other ventures. It will be exciting to hear a new voice on the call this season as Butler begins its journey into the Big East.
