Big East Opener: Butler to Start Conference Play on New Year’s Eve

Rumors had been swirling this summer of a Big East basketball opener extravagana this summer when conference play begins in December, and today the rumors were validated when the Big East announced that this will be happening on New Year’s Eve.

On December 31, Butler will officially be playing its first conference game in the Big East on Fox Sports One as Villanova will travel to Hinkle Fieldhouse to take on the Bulldogs. This will be one game of many as the new sports network will be hosting games from each Big East games on the same day.

 

 

Also coming to the news front today, and perhaps an icing on the cake for this event, is that Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery will be joining Fox Sports One and will be working games on this day. Two of the most exciting announcers in the game will be welcoming a new conference to the college basketball landscape on what will be a very fun today for Big East fans and its teams.

Now, we can only hope that someone will open up the game in man to man.
