Butler Bulldogs Recruiting: 2014 Target Trevon Bluiett Enjoying Very Impressive Spring

This past weekend marked another weekend of EYBL competition for the Spiece Indy Heat, this time in Minnesota. And, much like the games from earlier this spring, Trevon Bluiett continued to show improvements with some solid performances against very good competition.

Initially, due to the abscense of five-star point guard Jaquan Lyle this weekend, Bluiett spent more time than he is probably used to as the point-man, but he was very effective in doing so. Actually, he was able to lead his Indiana team to five wins and no losses on the weekend, including a game-winning buzzer beater on Sunday to cap off a 25 point, 7 rebound and 4 assist performance.

Those numbers seem to be the usual, however, as Bluiett continues to attract more attention from coaches and scouts alike. He is currently second on his team in scoring, third in rebounding, third in steals and first in assists all while shooting 49.8% from the field. Not to mention his team is 13-7 against some of the best competition in the country.

As a top target for Butler, and one whom seems to be very interested in the possibility of playing for the program, it is good to see him performing at such a high-level, but with this type of play, he’s attracting even more attention from high-major programs.

Over the past month, he has already received three new offers: UCLA, Northwestern and Pittsburgh. Those add to his already large list of existing offers, and has drawn interest from several other schools such as Texas, Florida State and Michigan State, of whom have not yet extended a scholarship offer.

At this rate, though, those seem to be the type of schools that are sure to be knocking in the upcoming months. Butler, Michigan, Indiana and UCLA seem to be the favorites at this point, but as he continues to improve and put up very good numbers at a nation-wide tournament, his recruitment will continue to grow into his senior year of high school.
